May 9th

¡Hola!

I'm still alive since we talked yesterday. It was good to talk to everyone. Hope everyone had a good Mother's day!

Here are the Ward numbers for my wards so you can look at LDS.org to see where I am at. Our apartment is in the Reforma Ward.
Reforma - 302295
La Perla - 96350

There were a few things that I had a note to talk about yesterday but I didn't.

1. Transportation - public transportation is a big thing down here. There are several ways to get around. Taxi, bus, the metro, y a Combi, which is a VW van that has been hollowed out and has had a bunch of seats put in the back, they fit 11 ok but there is always room for more.

2. An experience with tacos. There is a street vender that is by our house that is there every Wednesday. Last week we got some and we ate them in the apartment. They gave us a bag of salsa for them. I was putting some salsa on and some seeds where blocking the hole. So you can probably see where this is going... I put enough for 10 tacos on my one taco. So what I did was just put another taco on the top and went for it. While it was really hot my mouth was on fire for like 5 mins it was still really good.

3. I guess the Mission is splitting is July. I didn't know until I got here, so I don't know if I will be in East or South East. I will let you know.

4. The time does change down here with Conference. In October it goes from 8pm to 7pm.
Thanks for everything. Keep writing me so I know what going on with everyone.

Love you all,
Elder Templin

May 2nd

¡Hola!

Things are going good down here. The days are moving fast for me.

This are some pictures. The 1st is the District and the MTC with our teachers. The 2nd is the Baptism of Hector. The 3rd is our apartment (kitchen, study room, and bedroom and bathroom). The last one is the out side of the apartment. I did not get a chance to take a picture of the Church I will try to send that one next week.

This week we have been working to find more people to teach. We don´t have a baptism for this week. We are working with a husband and wife (Antonio and Rosario) to get them to come to church. They have read and want to be baptized but they still have to come to church.

We went on splits this week with the priests in the ward. This was fun but hard because he (the priest) knows the language but not how we teach the gospel part. So I actually got to speak a lot but we got a appointment and are coming back another day.

The blisters are there but they don´t hurt. My legs are getting used to walking all day and I think that they will be fine.

Today we played soccer as a Zone that was fun. The Mexicans are really good. I forgot to put on sunscreen so I think that I got a little burnt.

The week sounds fun. Hope everything is going good. The yard looks different but good.

Love you all and hope everything is good. Talk to you Sunday.

1st P-day in the field

¡Hola!
I'm here in Mexico safely. Having fun doing the work.

After we got off the plane we got picked up and went to the President's house and had dinner and interviews. They are really nice and funny. we stayed the night there. After breakfast we had training until 12. We went to a restaurant and i had my first real Mexican tacos. They were good and I did not get sick from those (or from others yet, knock on wood). After we had our changes meeting my companion is Elder Medina.
He is from Mexico city his family is not to far from the temple. He is 18 and about my height. I think that the mission president will be or has sent an email with a photo of me and my new companion.
After the meeting we went to our apartment and dropped off my bags and went out to work. Our area is in the city "Reforma" is the name. We have two wards: Reforma and La Perla. Our apartment is small but nice.
We have just been working the rest of the days. We have had appointment but people have not been there. We have a few that we have taught. It's hard not being able to help that much but I do put some words in.  We did not have a baptism yesterday but there hopefully should be one this week and I might get to do it

My ankle and finger are good. I have some blisters from walking and other pains for walking all day but hopefully with time I will get used to them.
The Spanish is coming along. It's hard to understand other thing that aren't the gospel but with time.
Ester week is a big thing down here. Sunday I got to introduce myself in both wards so that was fun. So 6 hrs of church

Thanks for Everything and for all the love and prayer. Tell everyone hi for me:
Con amor,
Elder Templin
